leap of faith.

Come August 26th, I’ll be living in Washington DC!!!!

Sorry, now that I got that out of my system, let me give you some more details…

I’ll be living in DC from August until December. My primary focus while I am there is an academic program in Global Humanitarian Enterprise. At the same time I will have the amazing opportunity to intern for a non-profit (I’m not entirely sure which organization yet, but I’ll let you know in a few weeks). So far I’ve found some really amazing organizations that would allow me to work in their media and communications department, so I am hoping and praying that the right thing will line up.

This great opportunity was presented to me at the beginning of April. Well technically it was 11pm on March 31st. And the application for the program was due April 1st. So within 24 hours, I had applied and filled out all of the forms. Last week I received my acceptance email. After taking some time to think about it, I decided to take it. Believe me, it was a hard decision. I was mainly concerned about how it would affect my business. In the end I decided that I had to take this chance I had before me and go for it. I’m taking the leap and moving my business with me. I’m not sure whether or not I’ll actually book anything while I am out there (I sure hope so!), but I do have some great second shooting opportunities lined up with other photographers out in that area. So I guess we will just see what happens!

Until then, I will still be running things out here in Seattle. I’ll be booking portraits and weddings up until August 20th. I will also be available in Seattle when I return from DC in December and all through 2011. So if you are in Seattle, I’d still love to hear from you and work with you!

As for those of you in DC, I’ll be open and available for portrait sessions and weddings while I am out there! And any DC/VA/MD photographers out there? I’d love love love to meet up with you. Shoot me an email and say hi. : )
